PART-TIME PARISH FINANCE MANAGER
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
Under the supervision of the Pastor, and in collaboration with the Parish Finance Committee, oversees all aspects of finance for the parish. The Finance Manager will be a member of a collaborative team that is charged with seeing that the parish operation is driven towards the overall vision and mission of the parish.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Oversees financial operations, ensuring compliance with diocesan policy and procedures.
- Educates the Parish Finance Committee members on diocesan guidelines.
- Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting to the Pastor, Parish Finance Committee and the Diocese of Phoenix.
- Works with the Pastor and the Parish Finance Council to prepare, administer and review the annual budget.
- Prepares payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable.
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of parish financial records.
- Facilitate the monthly close process.
- Staff to the Parish Finance Council.
- Coordinate and oversee the Capital improvement needs of the parish.
- Monitor 1099-MISC compliance where necessary.
- Monitor all purchase activities and vendor relationships to secure favorable pricing and ensure that purchasing stays within budgeted amounts.
- Coordinates all matters regarding liability, insurance and safety in the parish.
- Responsible for maintaining open communication, both inside and outside the parish family.
- Responsible for ensuring the parish is operating within Canon Law and Civic Laws.
- Assists with communication both inside and outside the parish and with representing the parish to outside businesses and organizations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize, work independently, set schedules, prioritize tasks, and work with other members of the staff in a team setting.
- Intermediate to advanced skill level in computer accounting applications, spreadsheets, word processing and database programs (Access, Excel, Word, etc.), and the ability to quickly learn PDS software.
- Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of diocesan financial policies and procedures.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with formal accounting education.
- Three years work experience within the field.
- Non-profit Financial experience a plus.
- Previous parish accounting experience a plus.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, office/cell phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands
- This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Coordinator of Elementary Education (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) & Middle School Youth Minister
Purpose and Scope:
Under the direction of the Pastor develops, plans, organizes and evaluates Catechetical/Faith Formation processes and programs within the parish through collaboration with the pastor, parish staff, volunteers, core teams and other groups as necessary. Plans, coordinates, recruits and facilitates training and evaluation for volunteers, core teams and programs including, but not limited to: Elementary Level Faith Formation (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd), First Reconciliation/First Eucharist/Confirmation, Rite of Christian Initiation adapted for Children, Middle School Youth Ministry and Vacation Bible School. Develops and administers the departmental budget for Catechetical programs, as well as research and select appropriate materials for programs. Communicates program information with parishioners and parish staff, and keeps abreast of current national trends and issues within catechesis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Working knowledge of office software: PDS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle stressful situations.
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner and communicate these decisions effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is absolutely essential.
- Be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Knowledge of Catholic Church vision, teachings, structure and policies.
